North Valley Caring Services (NVCS)

The mission of North Valley Caring Services (NVCS) is to empower neighborhood residents to build a vision of their community’s future and to actively engage in solving local problems.

North Valley Caring Services is a nonprofit organization serving the residents in the Northeast San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. Since our humble beginnings as a soup kitchen more than three decades ago, we’ve continued to adapt our services to the changing needs of the community. Today, NVCS is a model center for community empowerment, offering a wide array of programs to enable residents to lift themselves out of poverty, while also encouraging them to build a vision for their community’s future. In NVCS’ community 41% of families live on incomes below federal poverty level, and 97% of students are considered not fluent in English. NVCS actively addresses these needs and those necessary for self-sufficiency by offering 3 major programs, which include literacy classes for the entire family, after-school youth services, and supportive services for the homeless and local population.
