Our mission

To provide underserved youth with free, exceptional programs in academics, arts, and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education and strengthen their communities.
Opportunities

Scholarship Mentor

Mentors are asked to commit to supporting 2-4 mentees every Wednesday (schedule will be provided) from February-April. Throughout this seasons, mentors will:

Help students to identify and research scholarships that match their profile.

Assist students in crafting and finalizing their scholarship essays

Support students as they process their financial aid documents, manage college application portals and preparation checklists

Build long-lasting mentorships with the future leaders of our community!

Heart of Los Angeles wouldn’t be what it is today without the strength and generosity of our volunteers. Every year more than two hundred people donate their time and talents to the youth of the Rampart and Westlake Districts.
About us

Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) offers free, exceptional after-school programs for underserved youth in academics, arts, and athletics. HOLA’s campus, located in and around Lafayette Park, is a home away from home for thousands of kids. They know that they will get the help they need from HOLA’s professional staff and highly talented volunteers. Through HOLA’s comprehensive programs, the youth are exposed to a wide array of experts including artists, executives, chefs, athletes, engineers and counselors who truly commit themselves to providing programs of the highest quality, giving kids the best chance to become successful in life.
