Join School on Wheels at our Skid Row Learning Center, a welcoming and safe space where children and youth experiencing homelessness come after school to learn, grow, and feel supported. Our afterschool program provides academic help, enrichment activities, and—most importantly—consistent, caring adults who believe in our students.
As a volunteer, you might help with homework, reading, math, art projects, or simply offer encouragement and stability at the end of a long day. You don’t need teaching experience—just patience, compassion, and a willingness to show up. We provide training, materials, and ongoing support so you’ll feel confident and prepared.
Your time truly matters. Volunteers help students build confidence, strengthen skills, and rediscover the joy of learning—one afternoon at a time.
▶️ Skid Row Learning Center volunteers must be available during our service hours, Monday – Friday 2:30 – 5:30pm. Daily attendance is not required – we work with you on the best schedule for you!
