The Buddhist Tzu Chi Education Foundation is seeking volunteers to support a three-week physical education and cultural exchange program for visiting college students from Taiwan. These participants are future physical education teachers who will observe, learn, and assist with PE instruction in the Tzu Chi Elementary School.
Volunteers will help welcome and accompany the visiting students, support cultural and language exchange, assist with activity documentation, and help with daily program logistics. Tasks may include helping participants understand U.S. culture and daily life, taking notes or photos during activities, preparing simple breakfast or refreshments, organizing materials, and helping maintain a clean and welcoming learning environment.
This year’s PE teaching activities will focus on Soccer and Tee-Ball. Volunteers do not need prior experience in these sports. They may learn the basics alongside the visiting students while supporting the program.
This opportunity is especially suitable for college students or young adults interested in education, physical education, youth development, nonprofit work, or cross-cultural exchange. Mandarin Chinese ability is preferred but not required, as volunteers may help support communication with visiting students from Taiwan.
Simple meals or refreshments will be provided during program days.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two days per week, preferably for at least two consistent weeks between August 10 and August 28. Program hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. For example, if a volunteer joins on Tuesday and Thursday during the week of August 10, we hope they can also join on Tuesday and Thursday during the week of August 17 or August 24.
