A Purposeful Rescue

Our mission A Purposeful Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit that saves dogs from high-kill Los Angeles area shelters. There are many amazing dogs who get overlooked, or need a little extra work or care, and we aim to give those dogs a second chance.

Foster a Dog

As a foster parent you provide a temporary home for an APR pup until they are adopted. This could be as short as a few weeks, a few months or longer. During that time a foster will do all the things a dog owner would do such as taking them to vet appointments, working on basic training like house breaking and crate training and helping them acclimate to home life. Please note, you must be a minimum of 25 years of age to submit an application.

How you help Our fosters, and volunteers who support them, are the backbone of what we do — we can't save the overlooked, medically in-need or senior pups without them.
About us There are many amazing dogs who get overlooked, or need a little extra work or care, and we aim to give those dogs a second chance. We strongly believe that we will not adopt our way out of the problem of pet overpopulation, which is why we focus heavily on prevention and community outreach. Primarily focused on South Central Los Angeles, we promote spay and neuter and education. We rely on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.
