ANY fights for economic mobility for ambitious, first generation college students. We do this by providing a two-year, intensive mentoring and professional training program where first-generation students ("Fellows") are paired with young professional volunteers.
We are looking for 10 Career Coaches at each of our monthly workshops. Topics include Intro to Interviewing, Financial Literacy, Managing Up, Building Your Personal Board of Directors etc.
As a career coach, you'll volunteer at an ANY workshop, working with 1-2 students ("Fellows") to engage in our career development topic of the day. You will provide valuable insight and expertise from your own personal and professional experiences. Orientation will be provided at the beginning of the day.
Volunteers must have received a degree from a four year post-secondary institution and have at least 1+ year of work experience.

How you help
America Needs You (ANY) engages young professionals as mentors for first-generation college students.
About us
Today, only 21% of low-income, first-generation college students complete four-year college degrees. College isn’t enough. 50% of hiring managers reported that even after finishing a four-year degree, recent college graduates are not “job ready”. Since 2009, ANY has been improving college completion and employment rates for first-generation college students. The agency was founded on the belief that socio-economic status should not be a barrier to college persistence and career success. While there are a multitude of college access programs for high school seniors and job assistance programs for low-wage earners, there are few programs that ensure first-generation students stay in school and build the skills necessary to prepare for long-term careers.
"I have enjoyed attending workshops, networking with other Fellows and Mentor Coaches, and improving my professional development skills. Each Saturday workshop motivated me to continue working on myself and my career." - Grecia, NY Fellow Alumna

"I was astonished to see professionals that resembled me. Listening and watching them thrive in the careers I dream of occupying eliminated my self-doubt. If they can do it, I can too." - Nana, NY Fellow
