The mission of the museum is to champion the art, history, creation, and technology of ceramics through exhibitions, collections, outreach, and studio programming.
Addressing invitations, sending out mass mailings, preparing hands-on projects for school groups, glazing/firing after a family event, helping out with show installations and de-installations, renovations of the rest of our facilities and other general office tasks all require volunteers. There is no minimum time requirement and a vast selection of jobs is available.

Collection Volunteers
AMOCA’s permanent collection, library and digital resources require thousands of hours of maintenance every year to keep them categorized and accessible. Collection volunteers work in the library, permanent collection storage facilities, photography studio, the archives and the collection office. They assist with recording, archiving, care taking, organizing and moving our growing permanent collection. In addition, collection volunteers are needed to assist in the maintenance and loans of the Roger and Helen Porter Library books. Collection volunteers will be trained in their specific tasks and should be willing to commit to volunteering at least once a month.

How you help
Volunteering at AMOCA is a great way to learn more about ceramics, meet people with similar interest, and share your enthusiasm for ceramics with visitors. Volunteers are an important part of AMOCA’s culture and essential part of making our museum a success.
About us
The American Museum of Ceramic Art was founded in 2003, in Pomona, California. AMOCA’s Founder, David Armstrong, is a Claremont resident and Pomona entrepreneur. Armstrong thought the country would benefit from a museum focused exclusively on clay and that it should be located in Southern California which has a rich ceramic and arts tradition. AMOCA's Ceramics Studio strives to make ceramics accessible to the surrounding California community. AMOCA Ceramics Studio hopes to encourage the appreciation of ceramics within our community, nationally, and worldwide.
