Special Events VolunteerAssist with set-up, breakdown, directions, ticket sales, and other duties related to our special events. We accept both individual and group volunteers. Groups are encouraged to volunteer together.Food Pantry VolunteerFood pantry volunteers needed on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The Vance North Necessities of Life Program (NOLP) provides groceries to over 1,700 clients who live on a limited income. Clients are able to access the food bank once a week, four times per month, and take home three to four bags of groceries per visit. NOLP is one of the largest programs at APLA Health and we have a number of opportunities for volunteers, such as distributing groceries to clients, pre-bagging groceries, filing, and stocking shelves.Client Access VolunteerAssist in case managing APLA Health’s self-sufficient clients by assessing client situations, providing up-to-date information and referrals by telephone, and updating client records; assist in maintaining current resource library.Nutrition/Administrative VolunteerVolunteer will interface with the nutritionist and site assistant in order to successfully offer administrative assistance to clients, volunteers, and staff. |

How you help | Our dedicated volunteers increase our capacity to serve the community 10 times over. People of many skills and backgrounds come through our doors every year, as teams or as individuals, for assignments from phone banking to bagging groceries to helping with one of our fund raisers. Each year, we benefit from the work of more than 1,500 volunteers who contribute more than 65,000 hours of service at a value of $1.1 million per year. |

About us | We are a nonprofit, federally qualified health center serving more than 14,000 people annually. We provide 20 different services from 15 locations throughout Los Angeles County, including: medical, dental, and behavioral health care; PrEP counseling and management; health education and HIV prevention; and STD screening and treatment. For people living with HIV, we offer housing support; benefits counseling; home health care; and the Vance North Necessities of Life Program food pantries; among several other critically needed services. Additionally, we are leaders in advocating for policy and legislation that positively impacts the LGBT and HIV communities. |
