Ways to help

Pro Bono Attorney

We frequently co-counsel cases with pro bono attorneys in areas including real estate fraud, employment retaliation, and impact litigation matters. You can directly represent a client under Bet Tzedek’s supervision and mentorship. For example, you can represent a low-wage worker with a wage claim before the Labor Commissioner, a grandparent seeking to be appointed legal guardian of her grandchild, a client with a dispute in tax court, or a client who has been denied public benefits, to name just a few settings.

Attorneys can volunteer to assist individuals at one of our many pro per clinics. This opportunity is perfect for attorneys wishing to give back to their community, without having to commit to representing an individual on an ongoing basis.

How you help Even though free legal aid helps ensure access to justice and basic necessities for the most vulnerable among us, there is not enough legal aid available: for every legal aid attorney in California, there are more than 8,000 eligible clients who need assistance.
About us Hundreds of thousands of Angelenos cannot afford housing, food, or medicine – let alone an attorney. Bet Tzedek is a non-profit law firm committed to addressing this challenge. We provide free, comprehensive legal assistance and representation, volunteer and court-based self-help services, and legal education to more than 40,000 people each year. Bet Tzedek’s services keep families in their homes; secure care for those with physical, developmental or intellectual disabilities; protect seniors from abuse and real estate fraud; ensure access to safe housing and legal wages; and obtain guardianships for children to stay in safe, stable homes.
