We’re hosting a hands-on clothing repair and upcycling workshop on Saturday, July 12 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Lopez Urban Farm, and we’d love for you to join us.
Every year, millions of tons of textiles end up in landfills, contributing to pollution that affects air quality in communities like ours. When we repair and upcycle instead of throwing away, we’re taking direct action for environmental justice and public health. We’ve grown used to throwing things away clothes, objects, even moments instead of cherishing them.
This event invites us to repair something torn and give it new life. There’s something powerful about coming together to nurture and restore through unity, creativity, and care. Every stitch is stitched with love. When we repair instead of discard, we’re taking action for environmental justice while weaving our community closer together.
What You’ll Experience: Learn repair techniques and upcycling methods while transforming fabric scraps into functional pieces. Connect with like-minded community members and volunteer to create harvest tote bags from donated denim, leaving pieces of yourself for others to appreciate! We’ll provide all tools and materials.
Schedule:

- 9:00 – 11:00 AM: Workshop
- 11:00 – 11:30 AM: Lunch
