Our mission

To provide youth of all beliefs and backgrounds throughout the greater Los Angeles region with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Mentor

“Bigs” are the front line of CBBBS’ work, mentors who stand beside a young person and guide them through some of the choices, challenges and options they face. Research studies have consistently shown that “mentoring helps at-risk youth succeed in school, work, and life.” And while being a Big is indispensable to producing positive outcomes in a child’s life, it also will be one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you will ever do. In a few hours, twice a month, our Bigs make a positive, often life-changing impact on a child’s life.

About us

Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters was founded in 1925 and is a member of the National Big Brothers Big Sisters Network. As one of the oldest and most respected mentoring organizations in Southern California, it has a peerless record for service quality regularly exceeding national match retention rates. CBBBS has a long history of working with youth facing adversity, and each year we serve approximately 400 young people with one-to-one mentoring matches. The close relationship that develops between a child and caring adult in a mentoring setting is the “active ingredient” that builds a child’s self-esteem, nurtures their confidence and improves their academic performance.
