We give out food in one of the most food-insecure areas of the San Fernando Valley.
We used to do this twice monthly, but NOW we are offering food WEEKLY to stabilize our community!
We need Volunteers ALL MONDAYS 11:30am - 4pm
(note exceptions dates
for Monday Holidays);
Mon. 5/25 will be replaced by delivery on WED 5/27.
If you are physically able
- you will unload, set up to distribute, serve until the line is gone or the food runs out, then help with clean-up before leaving. We provide gloves, masks unless you prefer your own, and safe social distancing. ALL PERSONS MUST WEAR GLOVES AND MASKS as they enter the site, and until they leave.
If you can stand for all or most of the time but cannot lift - Some volunteers will be specifically appointed for managing this distancing! Or you may be bagging flyers or re-bagging some foods that come to us in bulk (e.g. 50 pound bags of potatoes get rebadged to about 24-48 potatoes, depending on size, into a bag for distribution.
Your first time volunteering with US - you will need to arrive by 11:15 am to complete federally required non-discrimination paperwork.
ANYONE under the age of 18
must come with a Parent or other responsible adult, have advance approval from Pastor Marsha (see email below), and observe all rules of social distancing and using PPE appropriately. We may require a Waiver for your participation BEFORE the day of volunteering.
It is our hope that this distribution will continue until our community is stabilized after the crisis is declared STAGE 2 - gatherings allowing up to 50 people with social distancing. Once the community is considered stabilized, we go back to twice monthly distributions.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church-Granada Hills for their financial support in 2019 that have made this possible. Thanks to LA Regional Food Bank who has supported us with the Mobile Food Pantry, and now with weekly Food Delivery. Thanks to LA County Supervisor Sheila Keuhl for a grant to help us extend our ability to provide PPE's for volunteers, bags for food, and overtime for our Staff to make this function operate weekly.
And SPECIAL THANKS to our REGULAR volunteers
who have made the transitions into this Crisis time!
