To create a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment.

Opportunities

Provide Assistant with Cover Letters and Online Job Applications

Chrysalis serves people navigating barriers to the workforce by offering a job-readiness program, individualized supportive services, and paid transitional employment. We empower our clients on their pathway to stability, security, and fulfillment in their work and lives. Volunteers may provide services at any of our four Southern California locations. 
 

The OJA/Cover Letter Volunteer will:

  • Provide one-on-one support to clients by creating and updating cover letters 
  • Provide one-on-one support to clients by helping complete online job applications, including, and not limited to, searching for openings, filling out applications, completing application assessments, etc. 
  • Empower clients on how to confidently speak and present their professional experiences and backgrounds throughout the job search
  • Communicate with assigned Volunteer & Program Coordinator after shift(s), in the case of any client issues, changes in volunteer schedule, etc. 


Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Highly motivated by Chrysalis’ mission and desire to improve social and economic
    fabric of our community
  2. Be at least 18+ years

  5. Be prepared to work with individuals who have limited work experience

Resource Room Sorter

Chrysalis serves people navigating barriers to the workforce by offering a job-readiness program, individualized supportive services, and paid transitional employment. We empower our clients on their pathway to stability, security, and fulfillment in their work and lives. Volunteers may work at any of our four Southern California locations. 
 

The Resource Room Sorter Volunteer will:

  • Assist assigned Chrysalis site with sorting clothing donations 
  • Collaborate with Chrysalis staff to keep the resource room (closet) clean and organized for clients 
  • Notify assigned Volunteer & Program Coordinator when closet inventory is low or items need to be replaced
  • Help style clients for interviews, as well as pick out clothing and accessories  
  • Communicate with assigned Volunteer & Program Coordinator after shift(s), in the case of any client issues, changes in volunteer schedule, etc.

The One-on-One Resume/Practice Interview Volunteer will:

  • Provide one-on-one support to clients by creating and updating resumes
  • Provide one-on-one support to clients by conducting practice interviews and providing constructive feedback
  • Empower clients on how to confidently speak and present their professional experiences and backgrounds throughout the job search
  • Communicate with assigned Volunteer & Program Coordinator after shift(s), in the case of any client issues, changes in volunteer schedule, etc. 


Qualifications & Requirements:

  2. Be at least 18+ years

Job Preparation Class Facilitator

We empower our clients on their pathway to stability, security, and fulfillment in their work and lives. Volunteers may facilitate at any of our five locations in Southern California.
 

The Class Facilitator will:

  • Provide facilitation for clients signed up for the Chrysalis job preparation class
  • Follow Chrysalis’ facilitator guide when facilitating class 
  • Empower clients on how to confidently speak and present their professional experiences and backgrounds throughout the job search
  • Communicate with assigned Volunteer & Program Coordinator after shift(s), in the case of any client issues, changes in volunteer schedule, etc. 


Qualifications & Requirements:

  2. Be at least 18+ years

Chrysalis Volunteer

As a Chrysalis volunteer, you will work directly with men and women as they prepare for, find, and retain employment. By providing job skills training, support, and positive energy, you will empower men and women to overcome barriers to employment and achieve their personal and professional goals. Volunteers help support the Chrysalis program in many ways, including: class facilitation, professional resume writing, and interview practice.

Our philosophy is that a steady job is the single most important step in a person’s transition out of poverty and onto a pathway to long-term self-sufficiency. Offering a hand up, rather than a hand out, Chrysalis empowers our clients to complete a self-directed job search. For more than 30 years, Chrysalis has been dedicated to assisting homeless and low-income individuals to secure and maintain employment. Since 1984, we have assisted over 71,000 people on the path toward self-sufficiency.
