Volunteers Needed at Cast!Position Summary: The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that is working to put an end to human trafficking through comprehensive, life-transforming services to survivors and a platform to advocate for groundbreaking policies and legislation. In order to strengthen access to training, education, and employment opportunities for survivors, Cast will establish a working lab that will provide a dedicated space and resources for clients and their education and career goals.Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Volunteer Work Lab Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Work Lab. Such responsibilities include greeting clients, assigning a workspace, assisting with any technical issues, assisting clients in completing job applications and creating resumes, and consulting with case managers on the progress of helping clients achieve their employment or education goals. The Volunteer must demonstrate a commitment to serving CAST's clients and to upholding the CAST mission. THIS IS A NON-PAID VOLUNTEER POSITION.Essential Duties:
Greet clients
Ensuring Work Lab rules are followed
Assign workspace
Assist with applying for jobs
Help create resumes
Lead workshops on job-finding skills, such as resume building and interviewing
Support with special projects, as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor)
Necessary Qualifications:
Experience in Microsoft Office user including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience with handling phone calls, email correspondence. Excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
Knowledge of working with multicultural communities.
Excellent interpersonal skills, honest communication, positive attitude and ability to carry a professional tone.
The candidate must be able to commit to volunteer at minimum 3 times a week.
Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
Successful candidates will be required to pass a background check before starting their volunteer work at Cast
Perks of Volunteering:
Monthly Lunch Stipend - $40

A family law volunteer attorney at CAST would provide direct legal services to trafficking survivors including: a) conducting intake of potential and existing clients; b) drafting responsive plesadings and motions; c) assisting clients with securing divorces; and d) obtaining child custody and restraining orders. The attorney would also be involved in CAST’s ongoing outreach and advocacy efforts. 2-4 days a week, 6 month commitment or more required.

Volunteer Law Clerk
Assist in the provision of a wide range of legal services to survivors of human trafficking. Collaborate with partner NGOs in advocating for legal reform. Train partner agencies in trafficking-related issues. B.A. and J.D. or currently enrolled in J.D./graduate program. CAST would also prefer that Part-Time Fall/Spring Law Clerks be receiving school credit.

Volunteer Attorney
A volunteer attorney at CAST would provide direct legal services to trafficking survivors including: a) representation in removal proceedings; b) securing release from detention; c) advocacy to protect rights as victim witnesses; d) preparation for criminal trial; e) advocacy to obtain Continued Presence and Certification as a trafficking victim to establish eligibility for refugee benefits; f) assistance in filing T-Visa, U-Visa, and VAWA applications; and g) obtaining child custody and restraining orders. The attorney would also be involved in CAST’s ongoing outreach and advocacy efforts.

Volunteer Receptionist
Under the supervision of the Office Administrator, the Receptionist will be responsible for supporting various administrative projects and day-to-day duties for the organization. Such responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering all incoming calls and refer calls to appropriate staff members, maintaining inventory of office supplies, sorting mail, preparing shipping labels. The Receptionist must demonstrate a commitment to serving CAST’s clients and to upholding the CAST mission. This position is ideal for an individual with strong organizational, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Design and develop pamphlets, brochures and outreach cards for CAST. Required skills: Graphic design, experience with publisher and other design software. Flexible, work from home. Projects are time sensitive.
