Our mission

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) offers a multigenerational approach to community volunteerism by giving older adults the opportunity to volunteer with youth ranging from infancy to 21 years of age.
Opportunities

Foster Grandparent Program: Become a Volunteer

Our volunteers are mentors, tutors, and supporters of at-risk children with special needs or circumstances. Foster Grandparents work in designated volunteer stations in schools, child day care centers, head start classes and after school clubs. As a Foster Grandparent, you receive a non-taxable hourly stipend, transportation reimbursement, internet reimbursement, monthly specialized training, and the opportunity to form lasting friendships with other volunteers—in addition to the satisfaction of knowing that you are providing a caring, positive influence in the lives of children. Volunteer 5 to 40 hours each week.

About us

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) offers a multigenerational approach to community volunteerism by giving older adults the opportunity to volunteer with youth ranging from infancy to 21 years of age. Foster Grandparents are mentors, tutors, and friends to children with exceptional needs or circumstances. We partner with schools and community-based organizations in service planning areas (SPA) 4, 6, 7, and 8, which encompass Inglewood, Carson, Compton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Mid City, Torrance, and Watts.
