Continuing our 30+ year tradition of the Great LA River CleanUp, Earth With Us will mobilize thousands of Angelenos to learn about and restore the Los Angeles River at various locations along its 51 miles. FoLAR will host River CleanUps, nature walks, habitat restoration, River education activities, and more on April 15th and April 22nd. Gloves, trash bags, tools, and water will be provided on-site. Monthly Habitat Restoration Day
Join FoLAR, California Native Plant Society, and San Fernando Valley Audubon Society for a fun-filled morning of habitat restoration at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve! With the help of CNPS, volunteers will remove invasive plants like mustard weed and learn about the importance of restoring Southern California's native habitat. After weeding, participants join the SFV Audubon Society on a nature walk around the reserve, seeing many of the 200+ bird species that frequent the reserve through the binoculars provided. Monthly habitat restoration with FoLAR occurs every fourth Saturday from 8am-11am, and volunteers may sign up through our linked Eventbrite page.

How you help
FoLAR thrives thanks to the support of our volunteers. Just in 2022, volunteers removed over 50,000 pounds of trash from the River during our annual Great LA River CleanUp, and restored tens of acres of native habitat at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve through our Monthly Habitat Restoration Day. We hope you’ll join us at Monthly Habitat Restoration Day or Earth With Us: The Great LA River CleanUp to increase our impact on the LA River in 2023!
About us
Founded in 1986, Friends of the Los Angeles River is a 501c3 nonprofit organization building a diverse and long-lasting LA River movement through K-12 education, community engagement, and policy and advocacy. With the support of River Advocates like you, we can make our vision a reality: a verdant Los Angeles River that supports vulnerable communities in climate adaptation and is transformed into a dynamic, functioning ecosystem that reduces flood risk, cleans the air, cools temperatures, and supports the biodiversity essential to our collective wellbeing.
