Health Center AdvocatesHealth Center Advocates provide education and advocacy opportunities to individuals in our health center waiting rooms. Our goal is to empower our patients into being advocates for themselves. We often use this to respond to current crisis or in recruitment for our STAR Initiative. Good for: People who aren’t afraid to talk to strangers and who can read a room. Peer AdvocatesInterested in becoming an advocate? Want to make a difference in your community? Join the peer advocate program to learn how to become a leader, create positive change, and build support for reproductive rights and social justice! Applications are open between Feb-April for the following school year.Not all teens have access to medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education, and access to comprehensive health care services. As an advocate, you can make a difference by becoming a trusted and reliable source of information, while building relationships with key decision makers.Students Must:-Be a current high school student from the greater Pasadena, Glendale and San Gabriel Valley area-Commit to a year-long program that meets twice a month for two hours-Be available early to mid-August for peer education training-Be available during the evenings and some weekends-Participate in some PPPSGV outreach activities-Work collaboratively with a diverse group of teens Vaccine Clinic SupportVaccine Clinic Support with greeting patients, clinic flow, light data entry, and observing patients during the 15-minute period after vaccination. No medical background necessary. Must feel comfortable volunteering in a hybrid indoor/outdoor setting. Volunteers are currently needed for Baldwin Park, Alhambra, and Glendora locations only. Vaccine OutreachVaccine Outreach volunteers help dispel myths about the COVID vaccine and connect the community to vaccine sites. Volunteer from home to text or phone bank about the vaccine, or come canvass with us to leave educational materials for your neighbors. Legislative Advocacy VolunteerComponents of our organization are continuing to grow. We often have need for people to help with phone banking, petition distribution, voter registration efforts or canvassing for advocacy issues. Good for: People passionate about the advocacy who want to see their work pay off immediately! Community AmbassadorsCommunity Ambassadors attend health fairs and local events to share information about Planned Parenthood’s range of services and locations and to help dispel myths about Planned Parenthood. If you are interested in this role, you must attend an orientation which are held 3-4 times throughout the year. Graphic Design Squad VolunteerGraphic Design Squad members lend their design expertise to our staff members in helping update old materials or beautify some new ones. This volunteer position happens from home on your own time and using your own computer. Good for: People who are better graphic design than we are! Photography & Film VolunteerPhotography & Film skills are often needed to help us document our special events or prepare for a new campaign or materials. Good for: Anyone with film or photography experience and your own equipment. Health Center Hand HoldersHealth Center Hand Holders ensure our patients feel comfortable and supported before, during, and after surgical abortion procedures in clinic. We are looking for calming and peaceful presences to support our patients. Volunteers in this position serve for 12 months and must be available on Thursdays at our Baldwin Park . |
