How you help Since COVID pandemic began, over 100 volunteer food packers and drivers have dedicated 21,000 hours collecting food and making 12,000 deliveries to households in need. Volunteers have also dedicated 2,000 hours annually helping us distribute food vouchers at participating farmers markets.
About us HALA offers several direct service programs including Market Match (which provides bonus dollars for low income customers at 25 participating farmers markets); CalFresh Enrollment (enrolling low income persons in CalFresh including SSI recipients, people in re-entry, immigrants, and low income working people); and weekly food delivery to 120 households of blind, disabled or senior residents. HALA educates public officials about powerful anti-hunger legislation in conjunction with other groups statewide through the California Hunger Action Coalition (CHAC).
