Each year, Jenesse Center organizes a summer camp program for the children of our clients living in our residential housing shelters for children ages 5-12. This program provides parents much needed support over the summer while also exposing the kids to educational and experiential activities they may not have previously experienced. This year we will also be expanding the camp to include youth who are accessing services through our community Family Source Center, which provides free tutoring, college process support, legal clinics, a food pantry and more.
Camp consists of six weeks, each with a specific theme, and a mix of on-site and field trip programs and experiences. Volunteers will play a key role in facilitating group activities and games, supporting outside facilitators when needed, supervising field trips, connecting with the youth and ensuring that programming goes smoothly. Group field trips include visits to an organic farm, a Dodger’s game, Universal Studios and more.
The camp runs June 17th through July 26th, Monday through Friday from 9am-3pm. Volunteers do not have to be available for the entire time but must attend full days when available. Experience with children preferred but not required.
