Ways to help

General Volunteering

Kitten Rescue couldn't survive without the help of our volunteers! We are always looking for help at the KR Sanctuary (animal care and other tasks), at our various pet store enclosures, with transportation, at special events, with fundraising, and for many other projects.

Adoption Counselor

Become an Adoption Counselor to find FURever homes for our kitties. Spread the word about the Sanctuary to new volunteers. Prepare cats and supplies for adoption events, and help with cat transportation to events and appointments.

Fostering

Fostering means you get to help a cat or kitten in need, all in the comforts of your own home. You don't have to have fostering experience, or even cat-care experience. We give you training, guidance and moral support! The length of time is up to you. Whether you can care for bottle babies, kittens, one cat or many, we would love to have you as a foster!

How you help Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 1,600 cats and kittens into homes every year. Since we began, we have rescued and placed over 25,000 cats into loving homes. Thousands more have been helped through our volunteer-fueled education and outreach programs.
About us The core of what we do at Kitten Rescue is rescue, foster, care for, and adopt out cats and kittens. We do this to prevent them from dying on the streets or being euthanized at LA City Shelters. The cats and kittens are rescued from a variety of situations. Most live in our volunteers’ homes and are fostered there until we can find permanent homes for them. Some who need special care, are elderly, or are unlikely to be adopted live at the KR Cat Sanctuary. We have multiple life-saving programs at Kitten Rescue, but a cornerstone of what we do is outreach and education. Kitten Rescue educates the public on responsible pet guardianship — teaching people how to care for kittens and cats, and explaining the importance of spaying and neutering.
