Our mission

Founded in 1991, our mission consists of three principal pillars: increase volunteer participation in community service projects; provide our nonprofit partners with access to volunteer labor and other resources; and educate and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles community.

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP

RSVP offers volunteer opportunities uniquely designed to tap into the experience, skills, and wisdom that those age 55 and over bring. Opportunities range from one day events to ongoing monthly programs.

Project Leader

Go beyond regular volunteering and become a project leader for a Signature Project. Signature Projects are long-term volunteer projects at non-profits that usually take place 1-4 times per month for a minimum of 6 months and activate anywhere from 5 – 200 volunteers.

Executive and Skilled Volunteering

L.A. Works’ Pro Bono and Skilled Volunteering Program is an exciting way to unite skilled professionals with local nonprofits to make good things happen in LA and beyond. We help organizations express their needs and wants as thoroughly defined and scoped projects, and connect them with volunteers who want to offer their professional skills.

L.A. Works makes volunteering easy, fun and meaningful. Since 1991, L.A. Works volunteers have contributed over 1 million hours transforming their neighborhoods and serving the needs of the Los Angeles community.
About us

L.A. Works is a nonprofit volunteer action center that creates, manages and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area. L.A. Works empowers Angelenos to address pressing social issues through volunteerism and community collaborations. Our projects cover a wide range of activities and issue areas including serving meals to the homeless, providing fun activities to disadvantaged youth, walking dogs, preserving national parks, cooking for kids, playing bingo with the elderly and shelving and packaging food to be donated.
