Ways to help |
Food Scraps CollectionBe amongst the hustle and bustle of a farmers' market while connecting with community members dropping off their food scraps. You'll be monitoring for contamination of non-compostable materials, assisting with logging drop-off metrics, and generally being a welcoming compost host! You'll be stationed at the LA Compost booth under a pop-up canopy within the farmers' market. There will also be seating available. No prior composting experience is necessary. This volunteer activity is best suited for volunteers aged 16 and up. Occurs at various locations.Compost Hub SupportCompost Hub Support volunteers can anticipate getting moderately dirty and sweaty, but loving every minute. You will enjoy chatting with your Compost Manager and fellow volunteers while turning a compost pile or bin. These events take place at our network of sites which include LA County's most cherished green spaces including community gardens, urban farms, and parks. No prior composting experience is necessary. This volunteer activity is best suited for volunteers aged 16 and up. Minors under the age of 16 should come accompanied by a parent or guardian unless other arrangements are made. Occurs at various locations. |

Cooperatively with a diverse network of partners within LA County, we co-create spaces for local compost access and engagement, restorative practices, and community empowerment. Community composting takes a collective effort. |
