Health Center Advocates

Health Center Advocates provide education and advocacy opportunities to individuals in our health center waiting rooms. Our goal is to empower our patients into being advocates for themselves. We often use this to respond to current crisis or in recruitment for our STAR Initiative. Good for: People who aren’t afraid to talk to strangers and who can read a room.

Health Center Hand Holders

Health Center Hand Holders ensure our patients feel comfortable and supported before, during, and after surgical abortion procedures in clinic. We are looking for calming and peaceful presences to support our patients. Volunteers in this position serve for 12 months and must be available on Thursdays at our Baldwin Park .

Vaccine Clinic Support

Vaccine Clinic Support with greeting patients, clinic flow, light data entry, and observing patients during the 15-minute period after vaccination. No medical background necessary. Must feel comfortable volunteering in a hybrid indoor/outdoor setting. Volunteers are currently needed for Baldwin Park, Alhambra, and Glendora locations only.

Vaccine Outreach

Vaccine Outreach volunteers help dispel myths about the COVID vaccine and connect the community to vaccine sites. Volunteer from home to text or phone bank about the vaccine, or come canvass with us to leave educational materials for your neighbors.

Peer Advocates

Interested in becoming an advocate? Want to make a difference in your community? Join the peer advocate program to learn how to become a leader, create positive change, and build support for reproductive rights and social justice! Applications are open between Feb-April for the following school year.Not all teens have access to medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education, and access to comprehensive health care services. As an advocate, you can make a difference by becoming a trusted and reliable source of information, while building relationships with key decision makers.Students Must:-Be a current high school student from the greater Pasadena, Glendale and San Gabriel Valley area-Commit to a year-long program that meets twice a month for two hours-Be available early to mid-August for peer education training-Be available during the evenings and some weekends-Participate in some PPPSGV outreach activities-Work collaboratively with a diverse group of teens

About usFounded in 1933 by Pasadena residents dedicated to women's health, PPPSGV is not only among the oldest of Planned Parenthood affiliates—we're also one of the fastest growing. Today, we see over 60,000 patient visits per year and deliver over 15,000 opportunities for sex and relationship education in our schools and colleges. Planned Parenthood provides life-saving cancer screenings, birth control, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, screenings for common health conditions, well-woman exams, vaccines, and more.
