Ways to help |
MentoringEach Point Scholar is paired with a caring mentor who is committed to advancing our students’ academic, professional and professional growth. Mentors provide career and professional development advice to scholars, including the pursuit of graduate studies and job opportunities after graduation. Mentors also advise their mentee about the design and execution of an annual community service project required of each Point Scholar.Host CommitteeEach one of Point’s fundraising events is led by a host committee of volunteers who support our mission and are willing to invite their respective networks to support the event. If you are interested in serving on a host committee for an upcoming event, please contact us.Administrative VolunteerAdministrative Volunteers help Point staff members in our New York and Los Angeles offices with mailings, filing and other administrative tasks. When projects become available, volunteers are contacted depending on their interests, availability and skills.Application ReaderApplication Readers assist Point by reviewing and scoring the scholarship applications that are submitted each winter. Preferably, readers have a background in education, admissions, scholarships, counseling, hiring, or human resources. It is also very important that readers have a strong understanding of the issues affecting the LGBTQ community. Point provides each reader with virtual training and comprehensive oversight of our systems as well as our scoring process, which allows each reader to work at their own pace from home. |
