Ways to help

Working With Dogs

spcaLA Volunteers will help teach shelter dogs basic obedience, provide enrichment activities and correct common behavior problems. There are several levels of training required depending on your involvement and interests. If you are between the ages of 12 to 17, you can volunteer with an adult.

Events

Photography

Veterinary Assistance

Working With Cats

Violence Prevention & Humane Education

Cut treats, prepare lesson plans, assist with workshops, give tours, teach lessons about compassion, data entry, etc. Prerequisites: Level 2 Class, with various specialized training from our Violence Prevention & Humane Education staff.

Foster Parenting

Are you ready to open your heart and home to an animal in need? spcaLA is looking for Foster Parents for animals who require a little extra TLC. To become an spcaLA Foster Parent, your first step is to attend an spcaLA volunteer info session.

From violence-prevention programs aimed at reinserting empathy in youth in at-risk communities, to a full-service Pet Hotel and Grooming Salon, spcaLA has reinforced the importance of kindness to animals and the human-animal bond.
