Veterinary Assistance

Help with administrative tasks, animal handling, prep work, cleaning, and other various tasks. Prerequisites: vary by role and location.

Working With Dogs

spcaLA Volunteers will help teach shelter dogs basic obedience, provide enrichment activities and correct common behavior problems. There are several levels of training required depending on your involvement and interests. If you are between the ages of 12 to 17, you can volunteer with an adult.

Dog Grooming

Working With Cats

Foster Parenting

Are you ready to open your heart and home to an animal in need? spcaLA is looking for Foster Parents for animals who require a little extra TLC. To become an spcaLA Foster Parent, your first step is to attend an spcaLA volunteer info session.

About us Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is an independent, nonprofit animal welfare organization serving Southern California since 1877. We believe that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measurement, and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. From violence-prevention programs aimed at reinserting empathy in youth in at-risk communities, to a full-service Pet Hotel and Grooming Salon, spcaLA has reinforced the importance of kindness to animals and the human-animal bond.
