Our mission

Step Up Tutoring’s mission is to innovate and scale free online tutoring for families who cannot afford private tutoring.
Opportunities

Virtual Tutor

Tutor and mentor a child (between ages 8-12) from an under-resourced school in LAUSD. Connect on Zoom and help your student(s) with Math and English in a 1-on-1, online setting. Pick the times you want to tutor and the subjects you want to tutor! Volunteer a minimum of 2 hours a week for at least 12 weeks. Prior experience not required! We will have an online training course and resources available. Bachelors Degree (or in progress) and a fingerprinting background check required.

About us

Amidst the uncertainty and isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteer tutors provide mentorship and emotional support for students. Our goal is to increase engagement, improve academic performance, and strengthen students’ social safety net. We partnered with LAUSD to provide free online tutoring and mentorship to children living in under served communities. Our students range from grade levels 3 to 6. We are looking for more volunteers to help us with our mission. No prior tutoring experience necessary!
