Our mission	To empower former foster youth aging out of the system.

Opportunities	Short-Term Paid Intern Support Stepping Forward LA offers a short-term paid internship specifically designed for current and former foster youth – most who have never had a job before. They are provided hands on experience while they navigate work ethic, time management, work alongside their peers, setting priorities, brainstorming new ideas and so much more. Volunteers work with the interns to teach them life skills like budgeting, resume writing, conducting mock interviews and support them as they navigate college, finding their next job, get their drivers license, purchase cars and so much more. Weekly 55+, Adults Individuals Office work, Indoor None, Formal Weekdays Small Group Member We have adult volunteer positions available for our small groups supporting young men, young women, LGBTQIA+ young adults and Pregnant and Parenting. Our volunteers work alongside the young adults to create events, activities, outings, discussion topics, workshops and community service projects. As a small group member, adult volunteers have an opportunity to work alongside former foster as well as have the support of the other adult volunteers in the group. Weekly, Monthly 21+, 55+ Individuals Indoor, Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Weekends Workshop facilitators The young adults that we hire for our short-term paid internship have written an App – created by former foster – for foster youth. Within this App, we offer a variety of resources including workshops facilitated by our volunteers. They could teach budgeting, how to cook an omelet, creative outlets like writing and reading poetry as well as running fitness sessions and topics on self-care. Occasional 55+, Adults Individuals Virtual, Indoor None Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends Co-mentor Foster youth who age out of the foster care system, have been through a lot and are in need of building healthy, lasting relationships with Stepping Forward LA co-mentors, like yourself. Co-mentors provide general support provided to former foster aging out of the system. Weekly, Monthly 55+, Adults Individuals Virtual, Indoor, Outdoor Formal Weekdays, Evenings, Weekends

About us	We offer an individualized, youth-driven approach to case management and we offer structure, support, and guidance in creating short and long-term goals that help youth achieve self-directed goals and self-sufficiency. Our Stepping Forward LA works with foster youth aging out of the foster care system without programs getting adopted or returning to their biological families. Our programs support young adults (ages 14-25) as they navigate this transition into adulthood. We teach them basic life skills and connect them to the resources they need to reach their fullest potential. and opportunities for the young adults to explore a variety of programs and activities. And to find their voice and interests along the way.
