FAQs about being an Assistant Coach
Do I need to be a serious runner?
It depends. Each team is different. Some primarily walk, some do a mix of walking and running, and others are comprised primarily of runners. Distances vary, depending on the goals of group (e.g., enjoy a walk, train for a half marathon, do something in between.) Additional information is provided for each opportunity, so you can find what works best for you.  Â
How long is each session?
A typical session lasts 60 or 90 minutes.Â
What is the format for a typical session?
When you arrive, you will be greeted by the head coach and mingle with participants as they are gathering. The session will formally begin with a short talk about exercise and addiction recovery, followed by a warm-up. Every team member will then walk, jog or run at their own pace along the designated route. You will be right there at their side, creating a positive atmosphere through your kind words and active listening.Â
How do I know what to talk about?
That’s covered during training. In short, be yourself.
