Ways to help

Physicians, Specialists, and Licensed Providers

We need volunteers from all medical fields, including, but not limited to Physicians, Specialists, Dentists, Pharmacists, Psychiatrists, and Registered Dietitians. We are open Monday-Friday mornings, afternoons, and evenings with locations throughout the Westside of Los Angeles. Some providers volunteer once a week, while others come once a month. We schedule according to your availability and as space allows.

General, Clinical, and Administrative Volunteers

Venice Family Clinic offers many different volunteer roles across all our sites. To learn more about the Clinic, the work that we do, and how you can help support patients in need, you must attend a Volunteer Information Session. For these clinical and administrative roles, we ask volunteers to commit to a regular weekly schedule. The minimum commitment is 4 shifts per month for at least 6 months.

One-Time Events and Projects

If you are unable to commit to a regularly scheduled shift with Venice Family Clinic, volunteering for our one-time events or projects might be ideal for you. Events include our Children’s Holiday Movie (volunteers needed in November and early December), Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction (volunteers needed in May), and various community events throughout the year. Projects could also include hosting your own fundraiser or drive (books, clothing, or supplies) on behalf of the Clinic.

Food Insecurity

As part of our effort to provide comprehensive care, we also do what we can to address social needs that impact health. Through our free food market program, we provide families with fresh fruits and vegetables. With the help of volunteers, we are able to sort and package over 10,000 pounds of food to provide a COVID-19-safe hand-off to patients and community members in need.

How you help Volunteers, donors, and advocates are the cornerstone of Venice Family Clinic. They make healing our patients and community possible.
About us Venice Family Clinic was started in 1970 by our founders Philip Rossman, MD and Mayer B. Davidson, MD. Back then, volunteer physicians provided basic medical care in a borrowed storefront dental office after normal business hours. Today, with fourteen locations and an extensive street medicine program, the Clinic is proud to be a leading community health center in Los Angeles. The Clinic continues to expand to best meet our community’s needs with an innovative, integrated approach that addresses the unique combination of clinical and social factors that impact our patients’ health. We offer primary and specialty care, behavioral health services, dental care, vision care and more—often all in one visit.
