VOLUNTEER Mentor Opportunity

Youth Mentoring Connection (YMC) is partnering with multiple community-based organizations to implement nine-month mentoring programs beginning this Fall. Each program recurs on the same day of the week, every other week throughout the duration of the school year. Each volunteer Mentor is matched with a High School student, in a safe community setting. We ask that mentors keep their commitment by attending the scheduled group and 1-on-1 sessions, and making contact with their mentee in off-weeks. Prospective Mentors complete our screening process, including an application and interview, then are invited to Training, and paired with a Mentee in our program launching during the same start date. Mentors should be age 23 or over and should own or have regular access to a vehicle.

How you help At the most basic level, a mentor is there to help the young person understand that they are valued by their community and were born with their own unique gifts and purpose. At the deepest level, mentors stand by and guide young people when they suffer the challenges and initiations in their development.
About us YMC is a mentoring-driven community developed to awaken young adults from at-risk regions to their power, unique gifts, and purpose by matching them with caring adult mentors and placing that pair within a structured group dynamic that builds the emotional resiliency skills and confidence in adolescentes to self-actualize into adulthood. Since YMC’s inception, over 6000 vulnerable youth have been positively impacted by dedicated and caring adults who empower youth with long-term, consistent support, guiding them toward developing positive characters, good decision-making skills, and enhanced self-esteem to maximize their capabilities.
