SFVRM Covid-19 Response Pop-Up Pantry

Through collaboration with Harbor Recuperative Care, the Northridge Mall, and many other local businesses, the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission has been able to serve nearly 700 families in the last several weeks with pantry essentials for some food relief. Many families have reported job loss for one or more members of their family as a result of COVID-19 layoffs/shutdowns.

One mom commented:

“The middle of March was a hard time for our family. My three children, all teens, were grappling with school ending suddenly and so too ended my job after school at the library. Those first days were full of uncertainty and fear as we faced the unknown. Your pantry was a beacon of light in that time. Not only was the food helpful but I loved the drive up feature with appointment times. I have physical limitations that make waiting in long hot lines almost impossible.  This system gives me a greater sense of support, allowing me to feel like it takes a lot less stress to get help and allows me a sense of dignity. I live in Chatsworth near the mall, so this has been a blessing for us. Thank you all so much for making this possible. You’ve given this mama a little more energy to keep moving forward into a lot of unknowns.”
