Meet David …

At St. Barnabas Senior Services, we believe that access to nutritious meals is essential for the well-being of older adults. Through our Food Bank, Meal Delivery, and On-Site Meal Service, we provide seniors with the food they need to stay healthy, independent, and connected to their community. For some, a meal is more than just nutrition—it’s the first step toward critical support. When David enrolled in our meal delivery program, our team quickly realized he needed more than food. Living with a spinal injury, he struggled with daily tasks and unsafe living conditions. His home was unsanitary, and he felt threatened by his neighbors. With no caregiver willing to assist him in such an environment, our team stepped in. Through SBSS’ care management services, we connected David with Adult Protective Services, who helped him apply for Section 8 housing, and secure a safe, stable home through the Home Safe Program. On September 8, David moved into his new home where he feels secure and supported. His journey started with a meal, but it led to a fresh start.
