We host monthly Community Garden Days at the 24th Street Elementary School garden from 9am – 1pm. You don’t need any gardening experience to join in- just a love of nature and a willingness to get dirty! Make new friends as you help us plant, weed, water, mulch and more!

We also welcome professional musicians to present musical workshops that fit in with our curriculum.

Anyone, age 15 and over, can volunteer as a sighted guide on Saturdays to assist students in many different ways, including ensuring smooth transitions to and from classrooms. We also welcome volunteers to prepare teachers lunches, clean up and to assist at special events. High school students can receive community service hours for the time…

A short term, occasional opportunity includes helping out our activities booth at local Farmers Markets and Festivals.

Long-term commitments include working with kids on a regular basis during Tinkering Club and camp. If you can commit to a regular schedule we can teach you how to use the tools and our pedagogy and then you can work with the kids.

reDiscover Center regularly get donations of discarded household, commercial, and industrial materials that have the potential to have a second life as “rediscovered” material for art and education. Those donations need to be sorted, cleaned, photographed, and shelved.
