Wise Readers to LeadersDonate Summer Supplies for our Summer 2020 from our Amazon Wish List found on our websiteCollege Access MentorWork with high schoolers throughout the year by providing them guidance through high school and advice on higher education. Experience in college admissions and education is highly appreciated. Mentoring commitment is for an entire school year.Reading Rally GuestReading Rally is a morning “pep rally” that celebrates literacy, mindfulness, friendship, creativity, and empowerment. Read Aloud Guests are invited to participate in Reading Really by reading a short picture book to the scholars and sharing about themselves and their role in the community. Read Aloud Guests can bring a favorite book from home or have one provided for them.Field Trip ChaperonesOn most Fridays we take the scholars off-site between for fun and engaging field trips! We are always grateful to have extra chaperones at our field trips, as it allows our scholars more freedom to explore in smaller groups! Time commitment is a Friday during the summer.Summer Eighth Grade Scholar AdvisorWe are looking for volunteers to join us this summer to work with our eighth grade scholars once a week! These volunteers will come to one of our program sites once a week to hold a book club or literacy-based discussion meetings with these scholars. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy working with middle schoolers and have a love of reading! Time commitment is once a week for 3 consecutive weeks.Enrichment VolunteerCome assist while our scholars enjoy a variety of afternoon activities including STEM, math, music, sports, art and more! Every afternoon, Monday through Thursday, we are in need of extra hands for these activities. This is a great time to see scholars in action! Time commitment is 2 hours a week for 6 weeks. |

| About us | Wise Readers to Leaders is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to closing the literacy achievement gap for youth from low-income communities and to preparing future leaders for a diverse world through an innovative and culturally responsive literacy curriculum and cross-cultural leadership and enrichment programs. Readers to Leaders extends its reach from the classroom to families and the community by offering free learning workshops for parents on topics such as financial literacy, drug prevention, nutrition, and resume writing. This approach makes Readers to Leaders not just a literacy program, but a multi-faceted learning and family support program built on the foundation of reading. |
