Ways to help

Whether you volunteer in our kitchens to prepare meals for our clients; at our facilities to provide a workshop, story time, or craft event; or in our offices to help with administrative work, you will be a valuable member of our family when you volunteer at Union Station Homeless Services. Volunteer opportunities are varied, and we do our best to match volunteers with a position that suits their interests and skills.

Community Allies Program

The Community Allies Program has transformed the traditional one-on-one mentor relationship by incorporating companionship and community. The mission of the program is to support and empower individuals and families to combat isolation while achieving self-sufficiency, housing stability, and overall wellness by fostering one-on-one relationships, developing social networks, and building community. You will meet with your participant for a minimum of 4 hours a month and must commit to at least 6 months.

How you help Over 45 years ago, a group of compassionate community members wanted to make a difference. Together, they founded Union Station Homeless Services. Today, volunteers continue to be essential to our life-saving work.
About us Union Station Homeless Services is part of a premier group of human services agencies in Los Angeles County that are leading the way to ending homelessness in our community. We are the San Gabriel Valley’s largest social service agency assisting homeless and very low-income adults and families. Since 1973, Union Station has helped rebuild the lives of thousands of people who were once homeless and without hope. With over 45 years of experience, we proudly offer a full continuum of nine programs throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Our core services include outreach, bridge housing, permanent housing, and employment. In addition, we offer basic needs such as meals and showers, and well as care coordination, benefits enrollment, and referrals to medical and mental health services.
